Ants

Below are the two most common species of ants to invade structures in the area

Odorous House Ants

Odorous house ant colonies range in size from only a few workers and a single queen to thousands of workers and multiple queens. Nest size and location vary by the seasons. Outdoors, nests are often found in soil and under objects near moisture or food. The workers move into structures from outside nests or they may establish nests in wall voids and other protected areas in the structure. Odorous house ants feed on a wide variety of foods including honeydew, insects and seeds. Indoors, they are attracted to sweets, proteins, and moisture.

Argentine Ants
Argentine ants form large colonies with thousands of workers and multiple queens. The nests are often located near moisture and food. Outdoors, multiple nest sites are common on a single property during the warm season. Nests are generally shallow and can be detected in soil or mulch. Nests are often found below objects or in potted plants. Argentine ants move indoors, especially when conditions become unfavorable, and may nest in wall voids. Worker ants forage in distinct trails that may cover large areas. They feed on a wide variety of foods including honeydew and insects. Indoors, the ants are attracted to sweets and moisture.
